For the month of October, we offer you the opportunity to discover 2 Burgundy wines, Domaine Jean Fournier.

The Fournier family has been present in Marsannay since the 15th century, with writings from the reign of Louis X111 already attesting to the presence of a Fournier in the village. It was much later, in 1962, that Jean Fournier settled as a winegrower in his native village. Today, his son, Laurent is at the head of an operation which covers 22.5 hectares in the vineyards of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune.

Laurent Fournier, Jean's son, has been a committed winegrower since his arrival at the estate in 2001. He is at the origin of the organic farming label of the estate. He invests on a daily basis to establish the reputation of Marsannay wines, perpetuate non-interventionist agriculture, respectful of the environment & highlight minority grape varieties like Aligoté.

Marsannay blanc - Saint Urbain 2022
(80% Chardonnay Blanc, 8% Chardonnay Rose, 8% Pinot Blanc, 4% Pinot Beurot)

The grapes are crushed, then pressed for a long time (3 to 5 hours) and without any input (neither sulfur, nor enzyme, nor yeast). The juices are lightly settled cold for 12 to 24 hours, then ferment under the action of native yeasts in barrels. Aged in 600 liter barrels (demi-muids), with 10% new wood), without batonnage, for 12 months, then 4 to 6 months in stainless steel vats.

This Marsannay has everything of a high-end wine… On the nose, the notes of white fruits dominate. The attack is fresh, tense, and saline notes enhance its delicate fruitiness on the palate. The aromatic persistence is unsettling, as it extends into a chiseled finish . This Clos Saint-Urbain is the ideal companion for a beautiful fish on a festive evening. Vos papilles danseront, soyez-en sûrs !

Marsannay rouge - Clos du Roy 2022
(100% Pinot Noir, planted between 1945 and 2000)

Vatting with 50% whole grapes, moderate punching down and pumping over, spontaneous controlled fermentation with native yeasts. Aging in barrels of 600 and 228 liters (approximately 25% new wood) for 12 months. The wines are then assembled to be barreled again and aged for 6 months in demi-muids.

The basket of red fruits contained in this bottle is expressed with great finesse. The wine caresses the tongue, and its silky train spreads in the mouth for a time that seems infinite to us. A texture reminiscent of lace because it is so chiselled. A real favorite, which will be good to age for a few more years to perfect it harmony and awaken all the secondary aromas!
